This premise, of vibration into a visual form, is the basis for this piece. Whilst the cello, or indeed any musical instrument, has many overtones, it is still theoretically possible to bring what is played to 'life' using cymatics. It is envisaged this piece will be accompanied by a visual experience directly linked to the sound of the cello.
Resonance explores the richness and diversity of the cello's tone. From long, deep notes, to sweeping melodies, through chordal, scalistic, and leaping arpeggios, the resonance of the cello builds to a climax through the sheer intensity of sound.
